I worked in Santa Monica, Ca when the first iPhone came out.
The excitement was tangible in the air, there were those of stuck at work, and the lucky ones out at the Santa Monica Promenade happily forming a line, miles long to get their first glimpse of the magical, amazing, transforming iPhone.
Lunch hours were forgotten, work was pretty much a haze that day as soon as the few lucky souls returned with their golden bounty. The rest of us just plotted when and where we could put our hands on this elixir the rest of that week!
To me, that was a defining marketing moment played by the maestro of all maestro's, Steve Jobs. He created a burning desire for something new, unknown, but that we all instantly had to have.
This was Branding in its purest of forms.
This is why I love Branding and have never turned back since as it is exhilarating, transforming and where the possibilities of any business rest.
